Welcome to the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum. We are a division of the Iowa Railroad Historical Society, a non-profit 501(c)(3) operating railroad museum located in Boone, Iowa. Diesel, steam, and electric equipment, and a 9,000 sq. ft. museum.

Boone Community Theatre was formed in 1975, founded on two principles: to put on quality performances and entertainment for the Boone area, and to provide opportunities for education and experience in theatre arts for adults and youth.

We put on four shows in a season, as well as a few other events sprinkled in.

The theatre is run by an all-volunteer board of directors, which meets in odd-numbered months, typically on the third Tuesday. Other volunteers serve on committees, help out with performances, and generally do what they can to promote the tradition of live theatre in the Midwest.

The Historical Society currently manages and maintains two historical sites: Boone County History Center at 602 Story Street in Boone; and the Kate Shelly site located in Moingona, Iowa.

The History Center building houses existing exhibits in the Museum and a community room that is available for public & private events. Saturdays With Scholars is hosted bi-monthly at this facility. These lectures are educational in nature, and free and open to the public.

Our story starts as more of a notion than a true mission – a simple wish to try brewing beer. The beer that came from a brewing kit was pretty successful, but not nearly enough of a challenge for Rick. This little side project grew into a true passion for brewing. Many hours were spent in the garage with family, friends, and neighbors testing skills and “tweaking” beers. Always looking for an honest opinion to help him develop his beers, Rick entered competitions in Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, winning several awards along the way. The growing success and desire to share the beer led Rick and his family to open the Boone Valley Brewing Taproom in early 2012 with a 1bbl brewing system. In April of 2015, BVB and team expanded its facility to a 20bbl brewing system and moved main production across the street. BVB’s bottles and kegs are distributed all over central Iowa and Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. Boone Valley Brewery remains dedicated to crafting quality beers and building genuine relationships.
